Children's Privacy & Data Disclosure. This section explains, in plain terms, what information we collect through the AiFes Parent App in connection with students, how it is collected, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the rights parents and guardians have over it.

Information We Collect About Children
  • Student name, class, and academic records (provided by school)
  • Voice recordings for AI Tutor interactions (processed via Whisper and deleted immediately after text conversion)
  • Chat messages sent through parent-teacher communication
  • Assignment and attendance data
Section 02
Information We Collect From Parents (Not Children)
Biometric Login

The app uses the device's built-in biometric authentication (e.g., Face ID, fingerprint scanner). This is handled entirely by the operating system — we do NOT collect, store, or transmit any biometric data from the device.

Face Capture (Leave / Intimation Requests)

When a parent submits a leave request or intimation, the app captures the parent's face to verify that the request is being made by a parent/guardian, not by the student. This face image is sent to the school for teacher verification. This is the parent's biometric data, not the child's.

Biometric data collected under this section belongs to the parent/guardian submitting the request, not the child.

How We Collect This Information
  • Student accounts are created by authorized school administrators
  • Parents are informed by the school before account creation
  • The school acts as the parent's agent under COPPA's School Official Exception (16 CFR § 312.5(c)(3))

How We Use Children's Data
Voice Recordings

Converted to text using Whisper (self-hosted) for AI Tutor educational interactions only; audio is deleted immediately after text conversion and is not permanently stored.

Academic Data

Displayed to parents for monitoring purposes only.

AI Tutor Responses

Content-moderated to block inappropriate material; flagged content is reported to school counselors.

Chat Messages

Used solely for parent-teacher communication.

Data Retention & Deletion
Parent Face Verification Images

Retained for teacher verification, then deleted.

Voice Recordings

Deleted immediately after text conversion.

Academic Data

Retained as long as the student is enrolled.

Parents can request data deletion by contacting the school.

Parental Rights
  • Parents can review their child's data through the app at any time
  • Parents can request deletion of their child's data by contacting the school administration or emailing info@aifesconnect.com
  • Parents can refuse further data collection by requesting the school to deactivate their account

Security
  • All data transmitted using TLS/HTTPS with certificate pinning
  • Sensitive data stored using encrypted storage on-device
  • Jailbroken/rooted devices are blocked from accessing the app
